On July 15, 2021, at about 1:45 p.m., Police Brigadier General JASON D ORTIZO, Director, Chaplain Service, together with the CHS Command Group, meets the NASU Field Evaluation and Validation Team of the 120th Police Service Anniversary (PSA) selection for Best National Administrative Support Unit (NASU) led by PBGEN HARRIS R FAMA, Deputy Director, DPCR, held at the PNP CHS Conference Room, Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City.
Further, PCOL JAIME C SERIÑA, Chief of Staff, presented the Briefing of Unit Accomplishments. It was followed by the Interview of Unit Commander and Staff, validation of supporting documents and other facilities for operational readiness.
Headquarters Special Action Force, Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City – After 22 years of dedicated service to the Philippine National Police, the Budget and Finance Officer (BFO) of PNP Chaplain Service, PLTCOL RONNIE B ARONG, as the guest of honor and speaker during Monday flag ceremony and awarding of personnel has announced his retirement before SAF troops at Headquarters SAF, Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City today, July 12, 2021.
PLTCOL ARONG entered the PNP Chaplain service in 1999 and practiced pastoral ministry among men and women in uniform service. Early in his career, his pastoral ministry begun by becoming the Spiritual Director of Sword of Gideon, Soldiers of Christ and BLD AFP-PNP. He was assigned in SAF from October 14, 2002 to May 21, 2006 and from February 1, 2019 to October 28, 2019 as he moved on with his pastoral ministry from different parts of the country including some of the Police Regional Offices under PNP Chaplain Service. His effective date of retirement is planned for July 23, 2021, allowing time for his mandatory retirement age on his 56th birthday.
PLTCOL ARONG expressed his delight for the honor accorded to him by SAF. He underscored how SAF molded him in becoming who he is today. “I have been coming back to SAF because by heart belongs to Special Action Force. This is the unit which molded me, gave me joy and brought happiness to my life,” he said.
PLTCOL ARONG mentioned three (3) important things that everyone should do throughout our short-temporary life on earth. “Be happy because our travel on earth is very short; make others happy by becoming the living testimony of being happy and by becoming an inspiration to other people in thoughts, in words and in deeds; and remain humble because nothing is forever and let us use our ranks to serve others and serve more,” he added.
PLTCOL ARONG has a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology, a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Colegio De Sta Catalina De Alejandria, a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and a Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry from Seminario Mayor de San Carlos. He dedicated himself as Jesus Christ Ambassador and messenger by virtue of his profession to SAF among other PNP units and he is the incumbent BFO of the PNP Chaplain Service to retire by virtue of mandatory retirement at the age of 56.
On July 10, 2021, at about 9:00 a.m., Police Brigadier General JASON D ORTIZO, Director, Chaplain Service, together with Police Brigadier General ELISEO DC CRUZ, RD PRO 4A, Mrs LETECIA O CRUZ, President PNP Officers Ladies Club and the PNP Officers Ladies, Soroptimist of Maam ROSALIE ELEAZAR, Adviser OLC, and PLTCOL JOEL B BARALLAS, RPO, conducted Distribution of Food Packs and assorted Goods for the 1500 Beneficiaries, in line with the BARANGAYanihan Program of PGEN GUILLERMO LORENZO T ELEAZAR, Chief PNP, at San Padre Pio National Shrine and Parish, Sto. Tomas, Batangas.
On June 29, 2021, Police Brigadier General JASON D ORTIZO, the Director, Chaplain Service (DCHS) conducted Pastoral Visitation and Spiritual Upliftment activities at Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PROBAR), Camp BGen Salipada K Pendatun, Parang, Maguindanao.
He was accorded arrival honors by men and women of PROBAR with PCOL PABLO G LABRA II, Deputy Regional Director for Operations as the Police Host while PBGEN WALFREDO G PORNILLOS represented PBGEN EDEN TIMPUG UGALE, Regional Director during the meet and greet with senior officers at the Maringal Lounge of said PRO.
DCHS encouraged the PROBAR personnel to be more proactive in the moral and character development, in line with the Chief PNP’s Intensified Cleanliness Policy in the Offices, in Ranks and in the Communities.
DCHS also conducted dialogue with the Values and Life Coaches of PROBAR held at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Camp BGen Salipada K Pendatun, Parang, Maguindanao. He conveyed his appreciation for their selfish and committed services of the Life Coaches by faithfully conducting the Squad Weekly Interactive Meeting (SWIM) amidst pandemic. He introduced the recently launched "e-Gabay: Kaagapay Mo sa Paglalakbay" Program and encouraged them to be part of it. e-Gabay is another milestone in the transformation of the organization and in psycho-spiritual upliftment of personnel, especially those undergoing spiritual dryness, with anxieties and experiencing depression through pastoral accompaniment via available social media outlets and other electronic services.
PBGEN ORTIZO officiated the Holy Mass on the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, held at St Martin de Porres Chapel, with concelebrating priests Rev Fr (PCPT) REY A IBAÑEZ, Rev Msgr Nicasio M Lozada Jr, DCC and Rev Fr Rex S Carnaso, DCC, sponsored by Regional Director, PBGEN EDEN TIMPUG UGALE and the Command Group.
DCHS together with PCOL ZAINALABIDEN ISMAEL, Regional Pastoral Officer, PROBAR also conducted Spiritual Talk to Men at Marawi City Police Office, Lanao del Sur Provincial Police Office, Sultan Mastura Municipal Police Office, Sultan Kudarat Municipal Police Office, Cotabato City Police Office and on selected personnel of 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company PRO10 and Aviation Security Group 10.
Aside from meeting the Values and Life Coaches of PROBAR, DCHS also had a dialogue with the Values and Life Coaches of Lanao del Sur PPO and Cotabato City Police Office.
DCHS also had a meeting and dialogue with His Excellency Archbishop ANGELITO R LAMPON, OMI, DD, Archbishop of Cotabato, held at the Archbishop's Residence, Cotabato City. DCHS is accompanied by PCOL ZAINALABIDEN ISMAEL, RPO, and PCOL ROMMEL L JAVIER, City Director, Cotabato CPO during the said dialogue.
The courtesy visit of the DCHS to the Archbishop of Cotabato aims to provide an open line communication between the PNP and the Local Church and to establish good rapport in maintaining peace and order in the community. DCHS assured the good Archbishop of the PNP’s full support to the programs and initiatives of the Archdiocese. Finally, PBGen ORTIZO expressed his gratitude to Archbishop Lampon for his committed support and selfless dedication of his priests in nurturing the values formation of the PNP Personnel, especially during the absence of a Catholic Chaplain at PRO BAR.
DCHS also rendered courtesy call to the Bishop of Marawi, Most Rev. EDWIN DELA PEÑA DD, Catholic Bishop Conference of the Philippines, Chairman of Episcopal Commission on Interreligious Dialogue, held at the Bishop's Residence, Balo-i, Lanao Del Norte.
